Bayer Leverkusen have internally discussed signing two Manchester United stars during the summer transfer window, according to Kicker.
The Red Devils are preparing for a busy summer, and there could be plenty of outgoings to compensate for the spending spree to reinforce the squad.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are among the front-runners to leave the club, while Antony and Alejandro Garnacho could also head for the exit door.
Kicker in Germany claim that Leverkusen are eyeing replacements, with Florian Wirtz potentially on his way to Premier League rivals Liverpool this summer.
Leverkusen want a fixed fee between £109 million and £126 million, and talks are still ongoing with the Merseyside outfit to negotiate the payment terms.
Amidst this, the club have started looking for potential additions to the squad. The names of Antony and Garnacho have been ‘internally discussed’ with new manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag brought Antony to United from Ajax in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has struggled in the Premier League, but a reunion could be on the cards.
Meanwhile, Garnacho is considered an absolute top solution. Kicker claim that manager Ruben Amorim has opened the door for the Argentine’s departure.
Leverkusen could realistically spend big on United duo
Antony had a good second half to the season with Real Betis on loan. The Brazilian ace registered 14 goal contributions from 26 appearances in all competitions.
The attacker is unlikely to revive his career with the Red Devils and is poised to depart. United plan to demand at least £34m for his services amid increasing interest.
Leverkusen could face competition from Atletico Madrid for the former Ajax man.
Meanwhile, Garnacho’s future is also hanging in the balance. He was dropped from the starting line-up for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Garnacho was subsequently left out of the matchday squad against Aston Villa, and reports have claimed that manager Ruben Amorim has told him to find a new club.
Amorim yesterday said that he hopes to keep Garnacho next season, but the Red Devils are open to sanctioning his departure if they receive around £60m on the table.
Garnacho would provide pure profit under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) as a club graduate. United will also avoid any loss on Antony, provided they sell him for £32.5m or more.
It remains to be seen whether Leverkusen will spend £94m on the United duo. There is a realistic possibility as the German club need reinforcements to compensate for Wirtz’s exit.
