Bale to United “almost a done deal”

Gareth Bale’s move to Manchester United is almost a “done deal”, according to Sunday Express journalist John Richardson.

The Welshman has endured a torrid second season at the Bernabeu, with Real Madrid fans openly criticising his performances, while the former Spurs player’s agent claimed that Bale is unhappy as he’s not involved enough by his team-mates.

United have been linked with a move for Bale for almost 12 months and, speaking on MUTV, Richardson claimed the deal was almost done.

“I think it’s almost a done deal to be honest,” he said.

“I know somebody very close to Gareth Bale and the public are not hearing the real thing. He’s very unhappy there and he’s unhappy with his treatment.”

He then followed up his claim with a story on Thursday’s Daily Express, in which he explained the revelation had come from a family member.

“A close family member has told Express Sport that Bale is keen on joining up with Louis van Gaal’s side – one which the Dutchman is carefully building to try and win the Premier League next season.”
