Aurelio De Laurentiis will demand €150-160m for Victor Osimhen if he rejects new contract

Manchester United will have to break the bank for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen if he decides against signing a new contract with the Serie A champions, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 22).

The Nigerian has been in fantastic form for the Naples outfit this term with 28 goals and five assists from just 35 games. He recently helped them win their first league title after 33 years.

Hence, the 24-year-old has become a huge favourite among the fans and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is now looking forward to extending the contract of the striker.

If unsuccessful, it is reported that De Laurentiis could demand at least €150-160 million to part ways with the former Lille man and may not accept anything less this summer.

Manchester United are mentioned as one of the main admirers of the highly-rated striker.

United will have to pay hefty fee to land Osimhen

Osimhen has been tremendous for Napoli this season with 33 goal contributions. He has managed the tally despite missing around 10 games with muscular injuries.

Hence, he could get even better with an injury-free campaign and in our view, the striker could transform United into potential contenders for the Premier League title next term.

However, they will have to break the British transfer record this summer, considering they are facing a difficult negotiator in De Laurentiis who does not provide any discounts.

The Napoli president refused to sell Kalidou Koulibaly in the prime of his career despite receiving club-record bids. He only offloaded him to Chelsea last summer.

If United or any other club are not willing to pay the fee, he could decide to keep Osimhen for at least another year with his contract only expiring in June 2025.

The onus is on the Red Devils to make a decision. In our opinion, United’s chances of paying the sum could improve if a new owner is at the helm this summer.
