Atalanta’s President Antonio Percassi has made a shocking claim, revealing that Manchester United took ‘almost a year’ to complete the deal for Amad Diallo last summer.
Manchester United announced the signing of Amad Diallo Traore on the deadline day of the latest summer transfer window.
As far as the reports are concerned, United signed the 18-year-old winger for an amount of €21 million, plus another €20m in achievable performances-related add-ons.
Diallo is touted to be one of the best youngsters born in the year 2002.
He will join Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window after receiving a fresh work permit and is believed to go directly into the Man United first-team then.
The Ivorian racked up 7 goals and 11 assists from 24 games for Atalanta U19’s team last season in Campionato Primavera.
Speaking to L’Eco di Bergamo, Antonio Percassi took a direct dig at the authority of Manchester United, saying,
“The negotiations [for Amad Diallo] lasted almost a year and you can feel how they [Manchester United] work, how they manage enormous dimensions.”
Manchester United C.E.O Ed Woodward and chief negotiator Matt Judge have had endured enormous criticism over the years, having failed to striker down the manger’s desired deals not once but many times since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United might have to revamp their process of negotiations should they want to stop receiving criticism for other clubs.
