Arsenal set to hijack Manchester United’s centre-back target

Manchester United could miss out on one of their most sought-after center-back targets Pau Torres. Arsenal have made up their mind to move forward for the Villarreal defender, reports Todo Fichajes.

Manchester United were reportedly interested to sign the Spanish international for a meaningful sum of money last summer – somehow they never came close to securing the deal.

On the other hand, they also lost Gabriel Magalhaes to the London club and ended the transfer window without acquiring any center-back signing.

United might feel now that they have done a big mistake by not going to sign a defender as they have already conceded 11 goals from only three matches in Premier League and are looking utterly vulnerable with their defensive attributes.

United’s current defensive record stands the second worst to West Bromwich Albion – who have conceded 13 so far from four matches.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was understandably in the hunt for a left-footed center-back, and many believed that the signing of the 23-year-old Spaniard could add stability to United’s defense.

Having signed no centre-back, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to resolve the team’s defensive dilemma with what the Norwegian has got.

That being said, should everything remains the same, it won’t be surprising if they tend to make a defensive acquisition as early as the upcoming January. Though, it seems as if it won’t be Pau Torres this time.
