Manchester United-linked Anwar El Ghazi has reported to De Toekomst Sports Park this morning to maintain his fitness, according to Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf.
The former Aston Villa star is a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven last week.
The Red Devils have reportedly been weighing up a move for the 28-year-old amid the uncertainty over the futures of Antony and Jadon Sancho.
However, it appears they will not be signing El Ghazi, with Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano sharing an update on the reports.
“Anwar El Ghazi has been linked as a possible option for the Red Devils as he is a free agent after leaving PSV Eindhoven,” he wrote in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside.
“Despite these rumours, from what I’m hearing El Ghazi is not a target for United – nothing is happening on that.”
The winger is now training with the club’s Jong Ajax reserve team as he looks to maintain his fitness ahead of a move to a new club.
El Ghazi impressed with Villa but failed to hit the ground running during a loan spell at Everton afterwards before moving to PSV.
A return to Ajax could be on the cards as Man United and other Premier League clubs his representatives have offered him to have turned them down.
The Red Devils could be without Antony for a while as the investigation over his alleged assaults continues.
It also remains to be seen whether Sancho can force his way back into the team despite deleting his post on social media platform X (that criticised manager Erik ten Hag.
Facundo Pellistri could get the chance to finally establish himself on the right wing, while Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount can play in the position.
However, Man United could be looking at strengthening their options in the January transfer window or turn to other free agents available if they are desperate to bolster their attacking ranks immediately.
