Brilliant Ajax star Antony has just asked Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to call his agents about a potential summer transfer.
The 22-year-old Brazilian is a transfer target for United this summer, according to the likes of the Express.
Antony is a sensational young player and Ajax could demand as much as €95 million (£80m) for the talented attacker this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
That sounds like an awful lot of money for someone so young and completely unproven in the Premier League.
He is a serious talent though and United need to make a big splash in the transfer window if they are to turn things around after what has been a horror start to their Premier League campaign.
Antony would be a stunning addition to Ten Hag’s ranks at Old Trafford. And it seems as though the door could well be open for United to swoop in for the nine-capped Brazil international.
Antony asks Erik ten Hag to contact his agents
The Ajax star was speaking to reporters after his side beat Groningen 6-1 in the Eredivisie yesterday. He bagged a goal and an assist, taking his tally to two goals and an assist in two games for Ajax this term.
And Antony responded when asked about links with United and his relationship with Ten Hag, as quoted by Voetbal Primeur:
“I learned a lot from him. When he left, I sent him a message to thank him personally. I can certainly build on what he taught me. I have no idea, he has to discuss that with my agents. I focus on the here and now. What comes, that comes, we’ll see. At the moment I’m comfortable here. I love this country and I feel at home here. I do everything for this club every day, every minute, every second. When I’m not playing, I enjoy the city and the beach. I have come to love the city and club.”
Whilst Antony insisted that he is happy at Ajax, it’s clear to see that he would jump at the chance to join Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
We think that the South American would be a truly stunning addition for United this summer. He has been described as a ‘real deal young Ronaldo’ by Eurosport.
Antony has also drawn comparisons with Brazilian legends Neymar and Ronaldinho (Goal). On top of all of that, Manchester Evening News have labelled him as a ‘scintillating’ player
He bagged 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for Ajax last season. The previous campaign he chalked up 10 goals and 10 assists in 46 games. Those are impressive numbers for someone so young.
He can play on either wing, is exceptionally fast and possesses incredible technique. Antony’s play is quintessentially Brazilian – he plays with an abundance of flair and creativity and always tries to excite the crowd.
Antony possesses everything that Ten Hag is desperately lacking amongst his ranks at United at the moment. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are just not producing the goods on a consistent enough basis.
There are clearly big problems at Old Trafford and Ten Hag has a really tough task on his hands to turn things around.
The signing of Antony from Ajax would certainly give everyone at United a huge lift though. And the Brazilian has made it very clear that if Ten Hag contracts his agents, a summer transfer to Manchester could well be on.
