Antonio Valencia slams Manchester United’s performance against Fulham

Former Manchester United star Antonio Valencia slammed the performance of Erik ten Hag’s side against Fulham on Saturday.

The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford, ending their four-game winning run in the English top-flight.

The result is a big blow to their top-four aspirations as they are now eight points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa in the Premier League standings

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expressed his ambition to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City, but United look miles behind the two clubs on the back of this display.

Antonio Valencia, who lifted two Premier League trophies with Manchester United, was unhappy with his former team’s performance on Saturday.

The 38-year-old took to social media platform X to post a picture from his days at Old Trafford, saying: “Until the last moment in this shirt, there were never any excuses.”

Disappointing performance from almost every player

Apart from Harry Maguire and Andre Onana, every other United player delivered disappointing performances.

With Rasmus Hojlund injured, the responsibility was on Marcus Rashford to score goals.

But the England international was nowhere near as effective as the Dane, offering very little attacking threat.

Captain Bruno Fernandes and debutant Omari Forson also endured frustrating afternoons as they created very few promising moments.

Casemiro failed to show his quality on the ball and Kobbie Mainoo wasn’t at his best.

Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Diogo Dalot were part of United’s shambolic backline that conceded two goals in the second half.
