Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati would prefer a move to Manchester United over a lesser club such as Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Mundo Deportivo (page 8).
The La Masia graduate had a difficult 2022/23 season with the Blaugrana. He made 51 appearances for them under Xavi Hernandez, but managed just 36 minutes per outing.
This has led to speculation over his future, but Mundo Deportivo claim that he does not want to leave.
The Spanish publication add that Fati has no desire to move to Wolves in a part-exchange deal for Ruben Neves. If he considers an exit, United would be preferred, but a deal is unlikely.
The Red Devils may not present a ‘very high’ offer for the 20-year-old because he has had ‘little prominence’ lately, and are aware that Barcelona are looking to sell him.
Man Utd may not make huge outlay on Fati
United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly open to signing another left winger during the summer.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho are currently options for the left wing role, but there could be positional changes ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Sancho could compete with Antony on the right flank while Rashford could establish himself as a striker. He managed 16 goal contributions playing up front last season.
In such a scenario, Fati would be a quality signing to bolster the left wing department. He registered a goal or an assist in every 130 minutes for Barcelona in the recent campaign.
However, the big stumbling block for United could be the asking price. It was recently reported that it would require around €70 million to persuade the Blaugrana to sell him.
With United’s limited budget and an uncertain ownership situation, we don’t see the possibility of the club paying such an amount for Fati, who saw limited minutes last term.
