Amorim will be blown away by what Benjamin Sesko did in the 91st minute vs Sweden

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko made a lasting impact in his recent appearance for Slovenia which will surely impress manager Ruben Amorim.

Slovenia stunned Sweden with a late equaliser, earning a 2-2 draw.

Former United academy graduate Anthony Elanga struck first to put Sweden in front, but Sandi Lovric levelled proceedings shortly after the break.

Midfielder Yasin Ayari restored Sweden’s lead with a sharp finish from 12 yards, only for Slovenia to strike back in the 91st minute with a decisive equaliser.

Sesko put on a decent show against a higher-ranked national team as he played the entire game.

He completed 15 of 19 passes as the hosts managed just 40% possession. He drew two fouls and won three of his seven duels.

His standout moment came late on when he chased down a long ball and somehow shrugged off two defenders who tried to wrestle him out of the play.

The 22-year-old showed superb composure and strength to control the ball with his knee before cushioning a clever header into the path of Zan Vipotnik, who grabbed the dramatic equaliser via a slight deflection.

Amorim will be highly pleased with this effort as it was proof that his striker can combine physical dominance with clever link-up play.

Rasmus Hojlund has many qualities to thrive as a number nine, but he was too easily bullied off the ball by Premier League defenders last season.

If Sesko can replicate this blend of power and awareness at Old Trafford, he will provide his teammates with the platform to thrive in the final third.

The young striker will now turn his attention to getting on the scoresheet when Slovenia travel to Switzerland on September 8.
