Manchester United are planning to reward two starlets with contract extensions.
Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are in line for new deals, with the contract situation for the latter being more ‘pressing’ as he has entered the final year of his contract.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Diallo said his dream is to win the Champions League with the Red Devils.
He said: “[My footballing dream is] to win more trophies with the club. I want to win a lot of trophies.
“Champions League, Premier League, everything. I want to win with this club – that is my dream.
Diallo’s current deal with United expires next June, but the club can extend it by 12 months.
The 22-year-old earned his place at United after an exceptional loan spell with Sunderland.
He netted 14 goals and recorded four assists across all competitions, including a free kick in the Championship play-off semi-final against Luton Town.
His impressive performances helped him earn the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award.
An injury at the start of last season removed him from the spotlight, but he turned the tide with his match-winning strike against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Erik ten Hag has obliged at the request of United supporters to give him a real shot in the first team this season.
He has started in four out of five Premier League games this season, bagging one goal and one assist.
United view Diallo as a critical player in the future. Considering his potential, the Red Devils are keen to secure him on a long-term contract.
