Manchester United returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a 3-2 friendly victory over Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in California.
Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Casemiro were among the goals. Rashford scored from the penalty spot in the 18th minute following a foul on Diallo.
Amad made it 2-1 in the 24th minute with a sublime strike from a Harry Amass cross. United went 3-1 up through Casemiro who was assisted by Rashford.
Betis scored a second goal after the interval, but United managed to hold on for the win.
There were a number of solid performances in San Diego, but Amad was the stand-out performer with a passing accuracy of 92 percent from 62 minutes played.
He won an impressive eight ground and aerial duels while creating three chances. The winger also made three recoveries and two interceptions during the game.
The 22-year-old has looked lively during pre-season. He should be a strong candidate to start in the Community Shield game against Manchester City on August 10.
Alejandro Garnacho has yet to report for United duty after his Copa America exploits with Argentina. He could link up with the squad on their return to Manchester.
With the short turnaround time, manager Erik ten Hag must go with players who are well prepared. Amad should be one of the first names on the team sheet for the game.
Academy graduate Amass also deserves a starting berth, having caught the eye with his tackling and recoveries. The left-back won 100 percent of his duels last night.
