Alejandro Garnacho reacts to Kobbie Mainoo’s man of the performance vs Belgium

Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho has heaped praise on Kobbie Mainoo following his man of the match performance for England against Belgium.

The teenager made his full Three Lions debut at the Wembley Stadium yesterday. He started in the holding midfield position alongside Declan Rice and had a positive outing.

Mainoo completed 89 per cent of his passes while winning five duels and two tackles (100 per cent). The youngster also created two key chances and almost scored before his late substitution.

The United wonderkid was denied his maiden goal by a fantastic save from goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Following the 2-2 friendly draw, Mainoo was handed the man of the match. He posted the same on Instagram where he was praised by Garnacho and other teammates.

Mainoo makes huge impression on full England debut

The 18-year-old has made huge strides since his breakthrough with United earlier this season. He has now been fast-tracked to the national team ahead of Euro 2024.

In our view, the youngster has shown maturity beyond his years and should be on the flight to Germany. We won’t be surprised if Mainoo gets the nod in the starting XI.

Jordan Henderson is no longer in his prime while Kalvin Phillips has gone out of the radar amid his poor performances since joining West Ham United on loan in January.

Conor Gallagher started alongside Rice in the friendly against Brazil, but the Chelsea man is more of an attack-minded player and sometimes lacks the positional sense.

Mainoo, Rice and Jude Bellingham would be our preferred England midfield trio for Euro 2024.
