Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho sent a reaction on Kobbie Mainoo’s Instagram post following the 2-2 Premier League draw against Liverpool.
Mainoo has been a revelation for United since making his breakthrough earlier this season. He is currently one of the undisputed starters under manager Erik ten Hag.
Against Liverpool, the 18-year-old had to work hard defensively as Casemiro struggled to provide control. The youngster won an impressive 89 per cent of his ground duels.
He also won 100 per cent of his tackles (5/5) and capped the performance with a stellar goal.
The club graduate span away from Curtis Jones in the box before unleashing a brilliant curling strike into the top right corner of the far post. It was truly world-class.
Despite his strike, United were unable to register a win. A late penalty conceded by Aaron Wan-Bissaka meant that the club had to share the spoils with Liverpool.
Following the result, Mainoo posted on Instagram with the caption: ‘Good but not enough, See you next week Reds’. Garnacho responded with ‘Main man’ in the comments section.
Mainoo needs more support in Man Utd’s midfield
Mainoo has become a key player for Ten Hag in the space of months. The youngster has been brilliant with his all-round contributions from the heart of the midfield.
He has had to do extra defensive work due to the inconsistency of the likes of Casemiro and Scott McTominay. United need to sign a marquee defensive midfielder.
In our view, Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves would be a perfect candidate to partner Mainoo.
The Portuguese ace is brilliant with the ball at his feet but also likes to make crunch tackles. He also possesses good recovery pace and does not get dispossessed often.
Neves currently has a release clause worth €120 million in his contract and United seem willing to pay over €100m. They are open to breaking their transfer record for him.
