Alejandro Garnacho called up to Argentina senior squad

Alejandro Garnacho has been included in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad for the upcoming international break.

It’s been a promising season for Garnacho at Manchester United. Having made his professional debut just under a year ago, he has become a key part of Erik ten Hag’s side.

The 18-year-old has started ten games and featured a further 17 times off the bench this term.

He has scored four goals and assisted another four, most recently netting a stunning late winner in the FA Cup clash with West Ham United at Old Trafford.

And now he could be in line for his international debut. Argentina national team boss Lionel Scaloni has included the winger in his 35-man squad for March.

Garnacho’s international future remains in the balance. He was born in Madrid to a Spanish father and an Argentinian mother and has appeared for both countries at youth level.

He was previously called up by Argentina last March before making his senior debut for United. However, he didn’t get on the pitch in their matches against Venezuela and Ecuador.

The South American giants are scheduled to play friendlies against Panama and Curacao later this month. These will be their first fixtures since their triumphant World Cup campaign at the end of last year.

Garnacho will be joined by Red Devils teammate Lisandro Martinez along with former Man United man Angel Di Maria.

Premier League players Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez, Maximo Perrone, Facundo Buonanotte, Julian Alvarez and Emiliano Buendia are also in the squad.
