Manchester United have been approached by super-agent Jorge Mendes regarding a summer move for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez.
The Colombia international has experienced a tough season with Los Blancos this term and he has been restricted to just 13 appearances in all competitions.
Injuries have played a big part in the limited gametime but manager Zinedine Zidane appears keen on parting ways with the playmaker, whose contract expires at the end of next season.
According to AS, Rodriguez’s representative has made contact with several clubs in England and Italy and that includes the likes of United and Juventus.
Rodriguez’s career has been hampered by injuries over the past 18 months and he has been on the sidelines on eight separate occasions while playing for Bayern Munich (on loan) and Real Madrid respectively.
As a result, his performances have dropped on the playing field and he is no longer regarded as a guaranteed starter for Zidane in any competition.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed the club’s transfer policy since last summer and more importance has been given towards signing younger players with experience.
Taking this into regard, the Norwegian would surely decline a move for Rodriguez, whose career seems on the decline at the moment with the regular fitness concerns.
The 28-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the attack but he would struggle to break into the United XI at full strength next season with possible new arrivals.
Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are the first-choice options for the left-wing and number 10 roles respectively when fit.
On the right wing, Solskjaer has the likes of Daniel James and Mason Greenwood at his disposal but Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has been widely fancied to take up the role next term.
