Manchester United completed their second signing of the summer on Friday as we splashed out £50 million on Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The 21-year-old joins fellow youngster Daniel James to sign at Old Trafford this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjear doesn’t want to stop there as we continue to be linked to signing a few more players before the start of the 2019-20 Premier League season in August.
A report in the Evening Standard claims that we “expect” to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Club of Portugal and Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United in the coming weeks.
The central midfield duo would be very welcome after we struggled last season.
Fernandes scored 20 goals and assisted 13 more in the Portuguese Primeira Liga last season and helped Portugal to win the inaugural UEFA Nations League earlier this month. The 25-year-old is much sought after so should Ed Woodward and co pull this one off it would be a huge coup. It has previously been reported that Lisbon’s second club would be looking to command a £70 million transfer fee.
Sean Longstaff only made eight Premier League appearances under Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United last season but the report in the Evening Standard reckons we’d be looking to pay around £25 million for the 21-year-old. The youngster is a combative and energetic central midfielder, which would basically be a direct replacement for the departing Ander Herrera.
There’s no doubt we could do with both a defensive midfielder and playmaker in our team so both of these signings would tick the box as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to get us back into the top four this season.
