AC Milan star Rafael Leao dreams of Premier League move with Man Utd on his wishlist, £43m asking price

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has his sights on moving to the Premier League this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 7).

The Portugal international has been a key player for the Rossoneri, making almost 300 appearances in all competitions in the last seven years.

However, he has now decided to pursue a ‘new challenge’ away from the Milan giants and recently confirmed the same in a public interview.

Corriere dello Sport report that there has been a breakdown in the relationship between Milan and Leao following his comments in the media.

The Rossoneri are prepared to sanction his departure, but won’t accept anything less than £43 million to part ways with the 26-year-old attacker.

Leao now ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea among his preferred destinations for the summer.

Leao speculation could be agent-driven

The 26-year-old had an average 2025/26 campaign with Milan. He played in a second striker role alongside Christian Pulisic, contributing only 10 goals and three assists.

In comparison, he was quite impressive in the 2024/25 season, where he featured as a specialist left winger. The Portuguese managed 25 goal contributions across all competitions.

With manager Massimiliano Allegri’s exit, Leao could get the chance to play out wide at Milan, but he has publicly stated the desire to pursue a ‘new chapter’ in a different league.

His desire to join United or Arsenal does not come as a surprise. He has previously admitted that he likes the Red Devils, with compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo being an idol of his.

Leao also acknowledged that he watches plenty of Arsenal games. In our view, Leao’s agent could be signalling the English pair that the forward would be prepared to join them.

If United were to consider a move, an underlying concern would still remain. Leao can be brilliant on his day with his quick dribbling and direct running to get behind defences.

However, he has been criticised for drifting in and out of games while conserving energy. His low defensive work rate is something which modern coaches may not prefer.

He would be a good competitor to Matheus Cunha on the left wing, while providing backup upfront, but there is always a sense of unpredictability with the former Lille forward.

United have already sealed an agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson for £35m upfront. It remains to be seen whether they return to Italy to pursue a deal for Leao.
