Manchester United star Paul Pogba has rubbished reports of him quitting International football.
He has deemed the news as unacceptable and termed the reports as ” Fake News “.
The whole mess started with a report by English tabloid Sun claiming Paul Pogba has reportedly quit international football after comments from French president Emmanuel Macron remarks on Islamism.
They went to state that the Manchester United star had allegedly made the decision following Macron’s statements and the French government’s decision to honor the teacher who published offensive images of the Prophet Muhammad.
Pogba’s apparent resignation was first published on Sunday in the Arabic sports website 195sports.com. They said that the decision to give the teacher the Legion d’honneur and the following comments made were his motivation for the decision to stop playing as a French international.
Adding, Pogba allegedly considered the decision an insult to him and to French Muslims, especially with Islam being the second religion in France.
This is a relief for French nationals and football fans alike.
Paul Pogba made his debut for France in 2013. He has been capped 72 times and scored 10 goals for the Les Blues. He was a member of the Didier Deschamps managed teams which reached the Finals of the Euro 2016, won the 2018 World Cup.
Paul Pogba’s most notable achievement in the dark Blue jersey would be scoring France’s 3rd goal in the World Cup Finals in a 4-2 win over Croatia.
