Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu endured a mixed evening for Denmark as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Norway yesterday.
Dorgu was handed a surprise start on the right wing, with former Man United striker Rasmus Hojlund leading the line.
The 21-year-old completed 91% of his passes and also created three key chances for his team.
He made an encouraging start by cutting inside from the right before unleashing a powerful strike that forced the Norwegian goalkeeper into a save.
Dorgu also contributed six defensive actions, although he surrendered possession 18 times during the contest.
The United star was also entrusted with delivering inswinging corners from the right flank.
His superb delivery shortly after the hour mark played a crucial role in helping Hojlund bring Denmark level at 2-2.
However, Dorgu subsequently lost possession twice in quick succession, including in dangerous areas as Norway increased the pressure before Erling Haaland struck the decisive blow.
He was later booked for a tactical foul on Martin Odegaard after giving the ball away in midfield.
Denmark will next host Wales and Portugal before travelling to face Wales again.
Dorgu will be determined to improve his performances after making a slow start to the 2026-27 campaign.
The United head coach Michael Carrick has primarily used the youngster as a left winger since taking charge at Old Trafford.
The former Lecce ace has previously acknowledged that he would prefer to establish himself in one position and focus on developing his game there.
Dorgu’s relentless running and physical strength make him a difficult opponent to contain when he drives at defenders.
Those attributes could eventually allow him to develop into a dangerous attacking option for United.
However, an injury to Luke Shaw forced Carrick to deploy the youngster at left-back against Sabah FK and Manchester City.
For now, Dorgu appears set to fill a versatile role. He ultimately needs to establish himself in one position and perform consistently if he is to force the manager to make him a regular starter.
