Manchester United return from the international break by hosting West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
Prior to the break, we came away with a 2-1 win against former Premier League leaders Everton at Goodison Park.
Ahead of this weekend’s game versus the Baggies, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the press this lunchtime and has given a team news and injury update.
Manchester United will be without at least five first-team players this weekend. The boss confirmed that Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones were all absent from training this morning.
Ole was able to confirm that Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo both returned to training for the first time in a while, but Saturday’s game will come too early for them.
To add to the injury issues in defence, there will be a late test for Victor Lindelof tomorrow to prove his fitness, but the Manchester United manager said today “his back is not great.”
This means we could see young Axel Tuanzebe partner Harry Maguire in the middle of our back four again.
Marcus Rashford also trained for the first time since the international break, so it’s hopeful that the England forward will be fit and ready to face WBA.
Visitors West Brom remain winless in their first eight games back in the Premier League following last season’s promotion from the Championship, taking just three points.
Slaven Bilic’s side have scored just one goal in their previous five games since they blew a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 at home to Chelsea back in September.
Victory for Manchester United could see us end the weekend in the top half, whilst we are currently six points outside the Champions League places.
