Manchester United kick off the New Year with a trip to St James’ Park to take on Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United this evening.
Caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to make it four wins from four games in charge against a team he had much success against as a player.
The Norwegian is set to welcome Alexis Sanchez back following the Chilean’s recently lay-off with a hamstring injury, whilst Romelu Lukaku could make his first start under Ole this evening.
Eric Bailly is suspended for us whilst Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are both sidelined, meaning that Phil Jones will partner Victor Lindelof in the middle of our back four as the only two centre-backs available.
The hosts have a couple of injuries themselves, though their manager has rotated his squad a lot over Christmas, though they have not enjoyed great results.
One player unavaialable for this evening’s host is midfielder Ki Sung-yeung as he has left to meet up with the South Korea national team ahead of the Asian Cup.
Central defenders Federico Fernandez (hip) and Ciaran Clark (ankle) are no expected to play whilst Florian Lejeune has been ruled out.
Backup goalkeeper Karl Darlow is also unavailable to the Newcastle manager.
