Manchester United’s pursuit of Issa Diop comes closer to reality. United are looking to strengthen their defence.
According to The Sun, West Ham have agreed to let Diop go for a fee of around £45m. The consensus is that David Moyes wants to rebuild the squad.
West Ham survived relegation by a very close margin this season. Kicker reports that West Ham failed to pay installment to Frankfurt for Sebastien Haller. An ex-employee spoke to the West Ham Way podcast, and reports that the club has a £70m hole in their financial statements. Club’s insider Claret & Hugh reports that David Moyes have zero transfer budget and must sell to buy.
This is a perfect sceanrio for United to enter and sign Diop. Ole is keen to bring Diop as Harry Maguire’s defensive partner reports the Mirror. The report further adds that West Ham have considerably reduced their asking price for Diop.
Last year, the Hammers stuck to a £75m price tag for the defender. Diop featured a total of 36 times for West Ham this season.
Tottenham and Chelsea are other clubs interested to sign Diop too, according to the Bleacher Report. However, Chelsea are in talks with Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr. It is highly improbable that the Blues will make a move for Diop so late.
Former United manager Jose Mourinho is a fan of Diop. United missed out on Gabriel to Arsenal last week. They cannot lose another battle. United need to hurry up if they are serious about reinforcing their defense
