4-3-3: Man Utd predicted XI to face Leicester City

Manchester United travel to Leicester City on Sunday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces a tough test after being held 2-2 at home by Burnley midweek.

The Foxes kept the title race open by holding Liverpool 1-1 at Anfield on Wednesday evening and Claude Puel’s side head into the weekend in 11th place.

We closed the gap on the top four to two points midweek with Arsenal leapfrogging Chelsea into that final Champions League spot following the Blues’ 0-4 hammering at the hands of Bournemouth.

Here’s the Manchester United I think Ole will name at the King Power Stadium:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Wasn’t given a chance with either of Burnley’s goals on Tuesday and David de Gea should be expecting a fairly busy afternoon against a Leicester City side that create a number of chances. Jamie Vardy is their main threat up front and the former-England striker makes some penetrating runs off the ball that often hurt the opposition.

Defence: Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw
I thought Eric Bailly could have been given a recall to the team after our poor defensive performance at Tottenham that saw de Gea called into making 11 saves, however Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sticking with this back four so he may give them a third game in a week. Chris Smalling returned to the bench midweek so he’s another option to the caretaker manager if he wants to rotate things. Diogo Dalot is an option at right-back too but Ashley Young has been captaining the side.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba
Ander Herrera was a surprise omission from the starting lineup last time out but I cannot help but think the Spaniard will be recalled immediately this weekend. Herrera has been one of the stars under Solskjaer. Paul Pogba no doubts starts and I cannot see Nemanja Matic being replaced in front of the back four either. Marouane Fellaini is headed China-bound so there isn’t much in the way of depth in holding midfield either, not that the Belgian was much of an addition to the squad anyway.

Attack: Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez
Romelu Lukaku was quiet midweek so I think we’ll see the striker benched and Marcus Rashford move back into the central role where he has been productive. Alexis Sanchez should be fresh to start down the left wing, though Anthony Martial will give him competition for that place. Jesse Lingard was only introduced as a sub versus Burnley so I think he’ll be the third person in our attack this weekend.

Here’s how we line up on paper:
