4-3-3: Man Utd predicted XI to face Cardiff

Manchester United could finish as high as fifth on Sunday when we host Cardiff City in the final game of the 2018-19 season.

The visitors to Old Trafford already have 18th place and relegation back to the Championship wrapped up, whilst we can move up a position with three points and Burnley avoiding defeat at home to Arsenal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a number of players doubtful for our final game, whilst Eric Bailly is the only player who has so far been ruled out.

Here’s the team I think we’ll see on Sunday:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
There’s no reason the Spaniard won’t start despite his poor form of late. Sergio Romero is unlikely to be fit anyway, so Lee Grant should be among the substitutes.

Defence: Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw
Antonio Valencia has been back in training in recent weeks and Ole is hopeful the club captain will be able to start his final game before he leaves in the summer. Chris Smalling has been injured recently so we should see Phil Jones alongside Victor Lindelof in the middle of our back four. Luke Shaw was named our player of the year during the week and there’s no reason he won’t start on Sunday.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, James Garner, Paul Pogba
Nemanja Matic’s experience should guarantee him a place in the starting lineup even if there is a bit of rotation. With Ander Herrera seemingly set to join Paris Saint-Germain over the summer I cannot see the Spaniard being involved. James Garner has been training with the first team this week and I can really see him being given a start. Paul Pogba’s poor form doesn’t seem to matter and he’ll start anyway.

Attack: Tahith Chong, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial
Jesse Lingard has been injured recently and Juan Mata hasn’t performed when given the chance under Ole, so I can see the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year, Tahith Chong, getting his first Premier League start on Sunday as a reward. He’s a highly-rated 19-year-old and we haven’t got a permanent starter on the right so it would be a good opportunity to give the teenager a start. With Romelu Lukaku absent in recent weeks, Marcus Rashford has to start up front in this one. The boss has also said he wants to give Anthony Martial another chance next season so I think the French international starts on the final day.
