4-3-1-2: Man Utd predicted XI to face Sheff Utd

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Wednesday when we host Sheffield United at Old Trafford in front of an empty stadium for the first time.

We restarted our 2019-20 campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

The Blades were held 0-0 at Aston Villa last Wednesday before being hammered 3-0 away to Newcastle United on Sunday.

Here is the team I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will name to pick up the three points:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Despite being at fault for another goal last time out I don’t see Ole dropping David de Gea for this game. Sergio Romero is an adequate replacement but the Spaniard’s value would drop significantly if he were to lose his place in the starting XI.

Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
Although Harry Maguire played his role in the goal we conceded, the back four otherwise played very well against Tottenham, with Harry Kane not having a single sight on goal. I don’t see any changes given we’ve had five days’ rest since our last game, compared to Sheffield United’s three.

Midfield: Scott McTominay, Fred, Paul Pogba; Bruno Fernandes
Scott McTominay and Fred had formed a good partnership prior to the disruption and given their age there is no reason why they can’t start this game either. We have an FA Cup match over the weekend where the boss may consider making a big rotation. One change to make from Friday night though is to start Paul Pogba after being an influential substitute. The French midfielder can start alongside the aforementioned duo in a midfield three, with Bruno Fernandes playing in a more advanced number 10 role.

Attack: Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford
Neither player was hugely influential versus Spurs but I think with more playing time under their belts the better they will get. Sheffield United have looked poor in their first two matches back so I am confident either, if not both, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will get among the goals midweek.

Here is how we look on paper:
