4-3-1-2: Man Utd predicted XI to face Chelsea

Manchester United are set to face Chelsea in a crucial fixture to determine a place in next season’s Champions League this weekend.

The West London club are currently sitting in the fourth and final position for a spot, three points ahead of us.

We are on a poor run of form of late but the Blues haven’t been particularly impressive in recent weeks so a victory could well be on the cards for us.

Here is the team I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will name on Sunday:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The Spaniard has been out-of-form of late but Ole’s not going to drop David de Gea for either Sergio Romero or Lee Grant. He’s had good performances versus Chelsea in the past.

Defence: Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw
Eric Bailly continues to be sidelined and Phil Jones remains a doubt this weekend so we should go with Ole’s preferred back four. Ashley Young hasn’t played too much of late because of suspensions but I think he’ll start ahead of Diogo Dalot. He will have a tough challenge up against Eden Hazard though. Luke Shaw could have success against the Chelsea defence when he bombs forward from left-back.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard
Ole said in his pre-match press conference that Ander Herrera could make his return for the first time since 30 March. I’m hopeful the Spaniard will be fit to start in place of the dreadful Fred. Herrera has man-marked Hazard out of the game on more than one occasion in the past. Nemanja Matic should be the anchor in front of the back four, whilst Paul Pogba is a fixture in the starting XI despite his poor performances over the past month or so. Jesse Lingard should start as the number 10.

Attack: Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford’s pace up front should hurt the Chelsea back four, whilst Romelu Lukaku will be keen to score against his former club that never game him a chance as a youngster. Though it was Antony Martial who scored a brace in our 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Here’s our team on paper:
