4-2-3-1: Spurs predicted XI to face Man Utd

Manchester United are in action on Wednesday evening as we take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.

The hosts start the midweek fixtures two points outside the Champions League places with Liverpool in fourth spot and away to Huddersfield Town this evening.

We were 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture back in October with Anthony Martial scoring the only goal in the final 10 minutes.

Here is the Tottenham team I think Mauricio Pochettino will name against us:

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris missed Tottenham’s last Premier League game at Southampton with illness and Michel Vorm continued in goal at Newport County over the weekend.  However, the French star is set to return between the sticks to face us on Wednesday.

Defence: Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies

Former-Manchester United target Danny Rose has struggled with injuries this season so Ben Davies keeps his place at left-back against us.  Toby Alderweireld has also been injured in defence allowing Davinson Sanchez to form a good partnership with Jan Vertonghen in the middle of a back four.  Serge Aurier is a doubt at right-back with a knock so Kieran Trippier could receive more game time on Wednesday.

Midfield: Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele; Heung-min Son, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen

Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele offer the protection in front of the back four with the latter good at bringing the ball forward and Dier being a threat from set pieces.  In attack Dele Alli is both a goalscorer and creator in the number 10 role.  Christian Eriksen is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League and likes to cut inside from the left before providing an excellent in-swinging cross on his right foot.  On the opposite flank I’ll think we’ll see Heung-min Son getting the nod ahead of both Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko.

Striker: Harry Kane

It goes without saying that Harry Kane will need to be closely marked by Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.  The Spurs striker is the Premier League top scorer with 21 goals – averaging one every 93 minutes this season.  We did keep him quiet at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture but that was back when Eric Bailly was healthy.

Here is the Tottenham team on paper:
