Manchester United will move into third place in the Premier League table tonight with a victory over Southampton at Old Trafford.
Both Chelsea and Leicester City were beaten over the weekend to allow us to move into the Champions League places, with just three games remaining after tonight.
With Manchester City’s Champions League ban being overturned today, we need to finish in the top four of win the Europa League to qualify for Europe’s elite club cup competition next season.
Here is the team I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will put out against Southampton:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Didn’t have much to do in our comfortable win at Aston Villa on Thursday. Southampton’s goals have predominantly come from Danny Ings this season so if we can isolate the striker then David de Gea could be in for another quiet game.
Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw
This back four has largely been excellent since the restart and I don’t see any changes for Monday’s game. I think the rotation will come in Thursday’s trip to Crystal Palace which falls a couple of days before our FA Cup semi-final.
Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford
This midfield is working a treat. Nemanja Matic is dominating the middle of the park and starting attacks. Paul Pogba is showing a lot of energy and Bruno Fernandes is one of the best players in world football right now. Mason Greenwood has made the right wing position his own over the past couple of weeks and I don’t see Marcus Rashford being rested whilst things are working.
Striker: Anthony Martial
Little competition for Anthony Martial’s place up front, though he was disappointed not to score versus Aston Villa. Odion Ighalo could come in for the trip to Selhurst Park, though the boss may save the Nigerian for Arsenal over the weekend.
Here’s our lineup on paper:
