Manchester United travel to Leicester City on Sunday needing to avoid defeat to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Our point at home to West Ham United on Wednesday moved us up into third place, meaning that should the Foxes beat us over the weekend then we would still finish in the top four if Chelsea were to lose at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Leicester had the midweek off and have played just two games in the time we have played our last four fixtures. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done some rotation but the players certainly looked tired midweek.
Here’s is how I think we’ll line up in our final game of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
There were no surprises at this end when David de Gea was named in the starting lineup on Wednesday. The Spaniard was only beaten by a penalty that night. He’ll keep his place in the starting XI on Sunday.
Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will come back into the starting lineup after starting on the bench midweek. The right-back still played 45 minutes though despite looking tired in the games leading up to it. Ole says he will give Eric Bailly every chance to recover from his head injury suffered last week but I can’t see the Ivorian displacing Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire for the trip to Leicester. Luke Shaw has a chance to start if he can prove his fitness in time, otherwise Brandon Williams will continue at left-back.
Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford
I was surprised not to see Fred start midweek but I cannot see Ole going with any partnership in front of the back four with Nemanja Matic on Sunday. The Serbian is key to both protecting our defence and starting attacks. Paul Pogba has been sloppy in his past two games but I think he keeps his place none-the-less. Mason Greenwood scored the equaliser midweek and should retain his right wing role. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are certain to start.
Striker: Anthony Martial
A couple of games without a goal now but Anthony Martial will lead the line against a defence that shipped three at Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Don’t be surprised if the Frenchman is our hero this weekend.
This is how I think we start our season finale:
