Alexis Sanchez is determined to pursue a fresh challenge away from Manchester United before the transfer window closes across Europe’s major leagues on September 2, The Times reports.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently sanctioned the sale of Romelu Lukaku but a replacement was not pursued with the Norwegian content with the options at hand.
Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez are presently the senior options, who can slot into the centre-forward role, but it appears that the latter does not stand the chance of receiving much game time under Solskjaer.
According to The Times, the 30-year-old is now understood to be considering a departure from Old Trafford and wants to leave the Red Devils before the European transfer deadline on September 2.
The Chilean is currently working on his fitness after his return from a hamstring problem sustained at the Copa America, but he has yet to join his United teammates in regular training.
Even with his comeback, there are no assurances over a starting role under Solskjaer and it makes sense for both United and the attacker to part ways in the near future.
Not only would the forward’s exit ease the club’s wage bill, but it would also offer him with the opportunity to redeem himself elsewhere, having managed just five goals from 45 games for the Red Devils.
Daniel James and Mason Greenwood were handed with minutes off the bench in the recent league opener and Sanchez’s exit should only enhance their prospects of earning more playing time this term.
