Manchester United parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag yesterday following a disappointing 2-1 Premier League defeat at West Ham United on Sunday.
The club have confirmed Ruud van Nistelrooy as the caretaker manager, but they are expected to announce a permanent appointment within the next few days.
Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim is the front-runner for the job and reports yesterday claimed that he has already given the green light to take charge immediately.
United are also prepared to pay the release clause in his contract and it appears only a matter of time before they confirm the arrival of the Portuguese tactician.
Amorim has built his reputation playing with a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 formation. He is unlikely to change his tactics with his move to the Premier League with United.
With this in mind, let’s have a look at United’s dream defence when Leny Yoro is fit and available to play.
United made huge investment on Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer. De Ligt has already cemented himself as a regular starter alongside Lisandro Martinez at centre-back.
Yoro is anticipated to return from a foot surgery in the coming weeks. The 18-year-old could line up in the middle of the back three with De Ligt and Martinez either side.
Diogo Dalot is most comfortable when he pushes higher up the field. With the extra central defensive assurance, he could excel from the right wing-back position.
With the unreliable fitness of Luke Shaw, we are going with Noussair Mazraoui at left wing-back.
The Moroccan has already excelled with his ability to invert from both full-back positions and he should enjoy playing under Amorim with more attacking freedom.
