24-year-old Premier League star remains an attractive target for Manchester United: report

Grealish

Manchester United are keen on landing the signature of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa despite the midfielder’s recent actions outside of the playing field.

The 24-year-old was recently spotted roaming around during the lockdown period, just hours after urging the public to stay safe indoors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He has since issued an apology for the incident but there have been question marks whether United would retain their interest in the midfielder after that moment.

However, according to The Athletic, United are still said to consider Grealish as their number one midfield target ahead of Leicester City’s James Maddison.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has placed the onus on player discipline since his arrival but Grealish nonetheless ‘remains attractive’ to the Norwegian due to his qualities on the playing field.

Grealish has largely featured on the left side of the attack for Villa this term and he has proved a top performer with nine goals and six assists across all competitions.

Still, he is comfortable playing in a central or attacking midfield role and his versatility should enhance his prospects of regular gametime, if he makes the move to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has focused on signing young or prime-age players since the 2019 summer transfer window and Grealish definitely fits into the latter of those conditions.

Villa are looking for a fee of around £60m for their graduate but United could get him for a lesser sum, suppose the west Midlands outfit fail to preserve their Premier League status for next season.
