Dutch teenager Dillon Hoogewerf scored three goals in a 4-1 win for Manchester United U18s against Newcastle United’s U18 team on Saturday.
United completely dominated the game with 59% possession and 8 shots on target. This win gives a mini-cushion to United’s U18 team as they sit top on the North Division table – three points ahead of second-placed Liverpool with 18 points.
Hoogewerf scored his first goal quite comfortably. He received a low cross from the left-wing and was unmarked – putting the ball behind the net with a left-footed shot in the penalty box.
Hoogewerf’s second goal showed he is hungry for goals and a born opportunist. A weak clearance by Newcastle’s player makes Carlyon wins the ball and Hoogewerf was in the right position to win the ball and slot it home.
His hat-trick goal was eye-pleasing as well. Hoogewerf received the ball outside the box and he picked a perfect near-post finish to put United 3-1 up.
Charlie Savage scored the fourth goal to seal the victory. Three other players who ere instrumental in United’s win are Noam Emeran, Isak Hansen-Aarøen and Logan Pye.
