Silva Mexes completes move from Ipswich Town to Manchester United

Manchester United have completed the signing of Ipswich Town teenage sensation Silva Mexes, with the 14-year-old becoming their first signing under INEOS.

The youngster impressed the Red Devils’ scouts with his goalscoring ability, and the Old Trafford club have now pipped other top English clubs to his services.

The Secret Scout – a reputable source for youth football and transfer news – claimed back in March that Mexes was close to joining Man United ahead of others, and the move has now become official.

The teenager will now join the Man United academy and hope to keep impressing to establish himself as a first-team member.

The Red Devils boast one of the best academies in the world, and Mexes could soon follow in the footsteps of Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay.

They are among the recent success stories of players coming through the ranks and establishing themselves as regulars in the senior team.

Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were two of the best performers for Man United this season, while Omari Forson and Willy Kambwala were handed their debuts.

Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has no plans to splash the cash on big-money players as the £1.5 billion they have spent on new players since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 has yielded little.

He will adopt a recruitment model based on bringing in five new players under the age of 25 this summer.
